In 1994 I undertook training with the Priory Hospitals Group on their first training course for addiction Therapists. This course was 13 months full time training. I qualified in February 1995. Since that time I have been employed by the Priory Hospitals Group advancing, in 1998, to Senior Addiction Therapist.
I have continued to develop and improve my therapeautic skills through further training and hold qualifications in Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy. I am also a member of the Federation of Drug and Alcohol Professionals and hold their gold standard National Counsellor Accreditation Certificate. I am also a UKRC Registered Independent Counsellor which is administered by the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.
My range of therapeautic skills include Group therapy, 1-1 Therapy, Reality Therapy, Transactional Analysis, 12 Step Therapy, Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy, Stress Counselling, Grief Counselling, Life skills and Family Therapy. These skills can be used at certain times throughout treatment to help the patient / client come to terms with the ramifications and consequences of having an alcohol problem or living with an alcohol problem.
For others seeking therapy, these skills can be used in addressing life problems such as stress, self esteem issues, cognitive and behavioural difficulties.
